The quintessential maple leaf, this is a sugar maple, (otherwise known as a Canadian maple). This tree is native to the hardwood forests of eastern Canada. Its sugary sap is known worldwide as maple syrup, which was an important part of the diet of native americans. The national symbol of Canada, the Canadian maple is a symbol of wisdom, connection and unity.
This pendant is paired with a PVD plated 18 carat gold chain, with a surgical stainless steel core. It is the highest quality alternative to solid gold on the market, and thus is reflected in the price of the piece. A longer chain is available in the dropdown menu.
More about the process:
Each real leaf is hand selected and then covered in copper through a process called electroforming. The pendant is then polished and specially patina’ed to create a unique pendant that is 100% hand made by me.
Copper is mineral found in nature and is essential for life. Bare copper, when worn against the skin, can help reduce symptoms of arthritis by improving blood circulation, reducing inflammation and stabilizing metabolism.
Unless sealed, copper will gracefully age over time and take on a darker, elegant look. These pieces have been treated to encourage the darker patina to take on specific colors. You will notice that your jewelry will change somewhat over time but the process will be less pronounced due to its current patina.
Most individuals are copper deficient and wearing unsealed copper jewelry can impart health benefits that are appealing to an individual, so these pieces are not sealed. Bare copper can sometimes react with sweat on the skin and cause a greenish tint to appear: this can be an indication that a diet change is necessary, however if you feel this is undesirable, then you can simply seal your piece with clear nail polish and it will no longer react in this way.
(Please be advised that sealing your piece can slightly change the colour of the patina of the jewelry and if you seal your piece it is not returnable. An alternative sealing is to wear your pendant over your clothes to avoid a skin reaction.)
To protect and care for your jewelry, do not wear it in water. Wipe it clean with a soft cloth and store it in a sealed bag or a tarnish proof box when not being worn.
